About
Grassington Festival of Music and Arts first started 30 years ago as a small weekend of mainly classical music, it has since grown into a 15 day extravaganza of every different type of music and art you can shake a stick at! Grassington is one of the most pretty villages in the Yorkshire Dales and despite being a tourist destination has retained its character and community. There’s still a baker, butcher, grocers, hardware shop and post office!
However there isn’t a theatre or arts centre nearby and so once a year – the last fortnight in June – Grassington invites a host of world-class artists to visit to give the local residents and visitors a chance to see and experience some of the best around without having to travel miles and miles. The festival is mainly organised by a volunteer army who give up hours, days and weeks of their time to put together this fabulous festival – check it out on www.grassington-festival.org.uk
